NEW FOUNDATIONS

A Community Outreach Network of Northwest Connecticut

A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out. In faithfulness, he will bring forth justice.   Isaiah 42:3

The need for aftercare is desperate. It is now estimated that nearly half a million ex-prisoners are released into our communities every year. More and more of these ex-prisoners, “even Christians,” will go back to prison. 30% in the first year, 75% within four years. The need for aftercare is especially critical where existing resources for ex-prisoners are stretched so thin they are virtually non-existent.

Hope for Aftercare

But seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you.  Matthew 6:33

Jesus Christ is the answer to the aftercare problem. Aftercare begins in the hearts of those who’ve surrendered their lives to Jesus. But it doesn’t stop there.

It continues in the network of relationships built as ex-prisoners transition from prison to the local church and the community. The needs of the newly released prisoners are understood by Christian ex-prisoners who have successfully integrated their lives into the church and community. These successful ex-prisoners know first-hand the dangers and temptations that ex-prisoners face. Many of these ex-prisoners have been positively influenced by local after-care ministries.

Vision of New Foundations

The vision of aftercare is to help ex-prisoners and their families grow towards greater Godliness and commitment to Jesus Christ and His Church by building a network of lifelong relationships that encourage spiritual growth, support and service.

We pray that God will give you wisdom as you prayerfully consider your part in this ministry to ex-prisoners and their families. To God be the Glory.

Vs. 16: This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.

Vs 17: If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need and has no pity on him, how can the Love of God be in him?  1 John 3:16-17
